recently, there were some noteworthy releases on one of my favorite netlabels, berlin based resting bell. let me just point to at least two of them (and both make a great sunday evening head phones listening experience):

sergey suokas, a.k.a. slow, just finished a lovely ambient mini-album: dual box.

and then there are latvian ambient masters astrowind with a new full length release. kurland is a hauntingly beautiful audio journey. while some of their early releases lack a little focus from time to time, this could easily be called their masterpiece.

great nocturnal dark ambient on darkwinter. also, be sure to check horchata's isolated house which is an absolutely astonishing piece of art and really must be listened to with headphones.

minimalist ambient drones on phantom channel. recorded on vintage equipment and overall not too far away from the soothing sounds of william basinski. visit the artist here.

» el heath: reflecting (ambient and loop tracks, autumn 2006)

the umma project is a colombian post-rock/70s sf space rock project and the first good thing is: the album ethereal (la noche del terror ciego) is completely for free. (the second good thing: a 2nd album is announced for autumn).

production and composition values are absolutely top-notch. of course, there's a lot of free music out there for free on the net that promises that 70s sf atmosphere and ambience, but lots of it is just plain uninspired. this amazing gem of netaudio, however, will send you on a great mesmerizing headphone journey.

there are also two videos out there:
