König Ludwig II. verehrte Edgar Allan Poe als "einen der wunderbarsten Schriftsteller", für ein Gespräch mit ihm hätte er seinen Thron geopfert. Doch der "Märchenkönig" und der amerikanische Autor sind sich nie begegnet, denn als Poe 1849 starb, war Ludwig gerade erst vier Jahre alt. - Markus Metz und Georg Seeßlen arrangieren anhand weitgehend getreu zitierter Äußerungen Ludwigs und Poes dennoch ein Treffen.
